【摘要】:Insertionlossisthemostfrequentmeasurementperformedonafibreopticlink.Theavionicsystemdesignerwillwanttoknoworpredicttheinsertionlossofalinktodetermineitsperformance.Aircraftmanufacturerswillwanttomeasuretheinsertionlossofharnesscomponentsduringassemblyandbeforeitisdeliveredtothecustomertohighlightfaultsandtoprovidearecordoftheperformanceoftheharnessatthebeginningofitslifetime(footprinting).Theinsertionlosswillbemeasuredatintervalsduringthelifetimeoftheaircrafttodiscoveroridentifyfaultsandanygradualdegradationinperformanceoftheharness.Thereis,however,oneproblem.Itisdifficulttocollectreliableandconsistentmeasurementsoftheinsertionlossonanymulti-modefibreopticharnesswherethedistancebetweencomponentsisrelativelysmall(lessthan100metres).Thereasonisthattheinsertionlossofacomponentoraharnessdependsonthepowerdistributionofthelightinjectedintoit.Thisleadstoverylargedifferencesinthemeasuredvalueoftheinsertionloss[1]dependingonthepowerdistributionofthesourceusedtomakethemeasurement.ThisPartofEN4533willexplainthemeasurementproblemandthetechniquesusedtoovercomethemingreaterdetail.
